My Light Art Therapy

Art therapy

Where to Begin

Starting therapy can bring up questions and uncertainty. Orly’s approach is designed to feel supportive, clear and unhurried from the very first contact.

Sessions are flexible and responsive. They may involve quiet art-making, guided exploration or reflective discussion. Some clients talk while they create, others reflect afterwards, and some sessions remain largely non-verbal. Orly may observe quietly, offer gentle prompts, or at times create alongside the client to support connection and regulation.

Making an enquiry

The first step is to reach out via the enquiry form. You’re welcome to share a little about who the therapy is for, what has prompted you to seek support, and any questions you may have.

We review every enquiry personally, usually within a few business days. There is no pressure or obligation at this stage.

The first session

A gentle introduction to the space, the process and to working together. For children, this may mean becoming familiar with the room and materials and building a sense of safety. For adults, it’s an opportunity to set intentions, experience the creative process and ask questions.

There is no expectation to talk about anything you’re not ready to share.

Ongoing sessions

Sessions are shaped to suit the individual - creative exploration with a range of materials, gentle reflection when helpful, and a collaborative, responsive therapeutic relationship.

For children, parents or caregivers may be involved in a way that supports the child’s wellbeing, while respecting appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.

Reviewing progress and next steps

From time to time, we reflect together on how sessions are going - checking in on goals, adjusting the approach if needed, and discussing transitions, breaks or endings when appropriate.

Endings are approached thoughtfully, so clients feel supported and prepared.

A collaborative, ethical approach

Built on trust, choice and safety.

We work with care, professionalism and respect for each individual’s needs, values and circumstances. Where helpful and appropriate, this may include:

  • Collaboration with parents or caregivers
  • Communication with schools or allied health professionals
  • Working within professional and ethical guidelines
